In 2019, Mississippi College audiences will get the opportunity to see MC's Choctaw Chorus present Vivaldi's "Gloria" in a March 31 concert. Sponsored by the MC Department of Music, the program at historic Provine Chapel is free and open to the public. The event on the Clinton campus begins at 3 p.m. that Sunday.

Wheaton College (Ill.) Students Named to Fall 2018 Dean's List

The Southern Athletic Association released their 2018 fall all-sportsmanship teams this week, recognizing student-athletes who displayed outstanding sportsmanship over the course of their seasons. The 2018 Oglethorpe student-athletes who have earned SAA Fall All-Sportsmanship accolades are: Men's cross country - Rodrigo Meade Women's cross country - Kara Jones Men's soccer - Jon Guy Women's soccer - Lindsey Bolas Volleyball - Evan Furst The five Stormy Petrels selected join a total of 50 student-athletes among the conference's eight full-time members across its seven sponsored fall sports -- in addition to the five fall sports Oglethorpe competes in, the conference also sponsors field hockey and football. Formed in 2011, the SAA places a special emphasis on good sportsmanship and fair play amongst all competitors.

The Oglethorpe volleyball team returns for the 2018 season, the second under head coach Joseph Goodson, and will look to make a big move up the SAA standings in 2018.

Members of the 2018-2019 Honor Council have been announced. These are students selected by their peers to be entrusted with being a part of upholding the academic standards of Oglethorpe University.

Dean's List honors are earned by undergraduate students who carry 12 or more credit hours and achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on the 4.0 scale.

A record 1,240 degrees were awarded. That tops the 2017 record of 1,165. An estimated 250 students graduated with honors. In the seven commencement ceremonies, 33 different degree programs were recognized, including the first graduates in the Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Athletic Training, Master of Science in Respiratory Care, Master of Science in Health Informatics and Bachelor of Science in healthcare administration programs in the College of Health Sciences. Graduating students represented 28 states and seven other countries: United Kingdom, Malaysia, China, France, South Korea, Canada and Germany.

Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

Oglethorpe University Athletics is excited to welcome our newest Stormy Petrels to the nest!

On June 9, incoming students attended Oglethorpe's first summer orientation, known as a MAP (Making a Petrel) Day. The first-year students enrolled in their fall semester classes and received their Petrel Pass student I.D.

A total of 11,101 students enrolled during the 2017 spring semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

The University of Alabama awarded approximately 5,000 degrees during spring commencement May 5-7. More than 370 accepted students have indicated their commitment to attend Oglethorpe University by submitting their enrollment deposit. We're excited to welcome these new "Stormy Petrels" to campus this fall! The Class of 2021 will begin classes on August 21, 2017.
